Push To Open

Push To Open was the result of a 2022 Global Game Jam centered around a theme of duality. The core design was based around figuring out which way door's are supposed to open, are they push or pull?

The team played on this idea by designing the doors in ways that would confuse players (A door says "Push" but has a handle?) and by introducing a countdown, that we timed so you can never actually get to the end before failing. This was to avoid developing an ending as we didn't believe we had the time to complete one.

My Role

My majority of my role on the project was Level Design and C# Coding.

I was responsible for designing the layout and progression (which doors and how many). I was also responsible for the front end design/code and helped in developing the code functionality for the doors. I even wrote a couple of the insults that appear when a player tries to open a door in the incorrect direction.
